Stephen Kershnar, a philosophy professor, is in academic purgatory. “It’s not obvious to me that this is, in fact, wrong,” he said on the philosophy podcast, as part of a wide-ranging thought experiment about ethics and consent. His remarks went viral after a right-wing social media account, LibsofTikTok, posted about it. The president of SUNY Fredonia, Stephen H. Kolison Jr., called the professor’s comments “absolutely abhorrent” and said that Dr. Kershnar was being reassigned to duties that did not require contact with students. He announced an investigation and, Dr. Kershnar said, directed police to search his office and seize his computer.

Billionaire Elon Musk on Sunday mentioned a "dick pic bot" that flags nudity on Twitter. Musk said the bot was scanning for NSFW content and tends to flag male genitals more. It's not immediately clear if Twitter actually uses such a bot, since Musk likes to joke. Twitter runs a "dick pic bot" that scans the platform for not-safe-for-work posts, according to a tweet by the social media company's owner, Elon Musk. "Your account was labeled as NSFW by our dick pic bot on 6/26, because you posted media with nudity from Pride parades," Musk replied.

Eric Schmitt, R-Mo., and Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., targeted big tech and the legal immunity companies enjoy under Section 230, which is currently being considered by the Supreme Court. Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Co., said in her speech Saturday: "I have called for 230 protections to be removed from these big tech companies who are hiding behind section 230, and they are acting like editors rather than publishers." "The key was, could we build something that big tech couldn't tear down and couldn't stop?" But not all Big Tech was a target. LibsofTikTok creator Chaya Raichik criticized how big tech has treated her accounts while also boasting about her follower count on those platforms and promoting her book sold on Amazon.
